“In daily life we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy.”
—Brother David Steindl-Rast
One thing I needed to learn, when I decided to find a new way to look at love, was a completely different attitude towards gratefulness.
I had wrongly assumed that gratefulness required a religious perspective, therefore I did not feel grateful.
It seems I needed to lose a bit of my illusion of control over my life through divorce and job loss, to lose my sense of entitlement and arrogance. Humility was a great place to start from in my new search for self-acceptance and love.
Viewing this short video over and over again changed my mind! I am so grateful for this lovely, insightful video featuring Brother David, a highly-respected Benedictine monk, author and spiritual leader. This video is a BLESSING to all of those with “eyes to see and ears to hear.”
